We are indeed living in strange times. In a timeframe of about 24 hours, Apple, Google and Amazon removed Parler, a social media alternative to Twitter, from their platforms.
In the last couple of months, and even years, we have gotten used to the censorship of certain worldviews on social media platforms, predominantly Facebook and Twitter. Christianity, or more specifically conservative Christianity (which holds to inerrancy and infallibility of Scripture), are one of the main worldviews opposed to those of the tech giants, and therefore it is increasingly deemed as speech that are “against community standards”. This is not surprising, since Jesus foretold us that the world would hate us.
“If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.”John 15:18-19, ESV
If you are a born again Christian and are amongst those who feel that your views are becoming more and more contrary to the majority worldview, then consider the following verse:
“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.”Matthew 7:13-14, ESV
The consequences of censorship is that a Christian worldview of current world events will gradually disappear from mainstream media and social media platforms, which in turn means that people will be exposed to only one worldview (which is not a Christian one).
Unfortunately, on the flipside, there are many conspiracy theories that are being propagated due to misinterpretation, or an incomplete (taking verses out of context) view of Scripture.
As a ministry, United for the Messiah (uni4m.org) will endeavor to regularly share Biblical viewpoints on current world events and possible decisions we will have to face in the near future (such as receiving the COVID vaccine, continuing use of WhatsApp and Facebook , etc.). We will never prescribe what decision you should take, however, we will present you with factual and Biblically aligned alternative views in order for you to consider what Scripture says.
We cannot predict the future, but we know what is revealed to us in Scripture. We therefore urge every Christian to be as the good Bereans as described in Acts 17:11 where they were testing the views presented to them in light of Scripture.
